Dermatologist Recommended Skin Care Routine For 30s

There is a flood of information regarding the finest morning and evening skincare routines when it comes to caring for your skin. It’s easy to become overwhelmed (should you apply retinol before or after moisturizer?). Is there such a thing as too many products?) To get this wrinkling out (pun intended), we turned to an expert for the most effective techniques to achieve—and maintain—that young glow, as well as some of our favorite editor-approved products to aid in the process. Everything’s essential not to overcomplicate it, says Dr. Paul Jarrod Frank, Cosmetic Dermatologist, Chief Medical Officer, and Founder of PFRANKMD. “Return to the fundamentals. “Cleanser, moisturizer, and sun protection are all you need,” he explains. “It’s all about—Keep It Simple, Stupid—which I cover in “The Pro-Aging Playbook.” According to Dr. Frank, a widespread fallacy is that you need a plethora of products to obtain your ideal skin—in reality, overusing cosmetics is the number one problem.

“People are pushed skincare products from a ‘anti-aging perspective as if aging is a terrible thing,” he explains. People believe that more is always better as a result of these negative marketing pressures, which he claims is just not true. The truth is that it may wreak havoc on your skin. “What we call ‘sensitive skin syndrome’ is a common thread of misuse of products,” explains Dr. Frank, who recently established a brand new PFFRANKMD site in New York City’s West Village.

“Whether it’s skincare, cosmetic operations, nutrition, exercise, or professional endeavors,” Dr. Frank explains, “life doesn’t have to be so complicated to produce results.” In this age of surplus content, here are a few handy tools to help you streamline your skincare.

Step 1: Begin by using a cleanser.

Rinse the skin with lukewarm water first. After that, use a cleanser that is appropriate for your skin type. Dr. Frank advises an oil cleanser for drier skin types and a solution containing AHAs for cell turnover for greasy or dull skin. Make sure to massage the formula into your face and neck in gentle, circular strokes. Rinse well with lukewarm water and dry thoroughly with a clean towel.

This lathering cleanser combines glycolic acid’s exfoliating properties to leave skin bright and smooth while also helping to eat away at that top layer of dead skin that frequently gives a drab appearance.

This two-in-one makeup remover and cleanser with camellia oil is a cult favorite that softly melts away impurities—even waterproof makeup—without the harsh aftereffects of certain forceful cleansers. What’s the end result? Skin that is pure and velvety supple.

Step 2: Moisturize your skin

Dr. Frank recommends hyaluronic acids to improve moisture and rose water to reduce irritation and calm sensitive skin. “Apply in a circular, upward motion to the face.”

Step 3: Use Sunscreen First Thing In The Morning

It may sound excessive, but applying sunscreen every morning all year, even when the sun isn’t shining, is crucial. Look for a formula that says “wide spectrum,” which indicates it protects against UVB and UVA rays and has an SPF of 30 or higher. After the moisturizer has sunk in, Dr. Frank suggests applying sunscreen.

Strong sunscreen is a must-have for any anti-aging regimen. This tinted SPF 40 sunscreen with micronized titanium and zinc oxides also includes vitamins C and E for further antioxidant protection.

Step 4: In the evening, apply a retinoid or serum.

Dr. Frank recommends switching from sunscreen to a retinoid or Vitamin C antioxidant serum in the nights.

This vitamin C serum, another cult favorite, provides superior environmental protection while improving the look of fine lines and wrinkles, loss of firmness, and skin’s color. Furthermore, it has been clinically demonstrated to prevent oxidative damage caused by free radicals created by UV, Ozone, and Diesel Exhaust by up to 41%.

Drunk Elephant’s clean, cutting-edge formula contains 1.0 percent vegan retinol and superfood-rich nutrients to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and sun damage.

Step 5: Develop an annual in-office strategy.

Dr. Frank suggests a yearly in-office treatment like Fraxel, which employs a laser to resurface the skin, instead of using a plethora of creams on a daily basis to combat the effects of sun damage and aging. “Clear skin is usually a sign of youth and vitality,” he adds, adding that he tries to deliver it to people of all ages. “I’d recommend a yearly Fraxel treatment to my patients over a bevy of anti-aging medications any day.
