The first step in treating oily skin is to develop a daily skincare routine that works for you.

Once you’ve established this as a habit, you might wish to add other, less frequent stages to your routine, such as those listed below.

Blotting papers should be used.

The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) recommends using blotting papers to reduce excess oil if your skin appears to shine all day.

Gently press the paper against your skin for a few seconds to accomplish this. This should aid in the absorption of the majority of the oil. As needed, repeat throughout the day.

After you’ve completed your workout, wash your hands.
The AAD recommends cleaning your face after exercise in addition to your morning and nighttime routines. If you don’t plan on showering anytime soon, this is very vital.

Sweat, oil, and filth that may accumulate on your face when exercising can be removed by washing your face.

This does not need to be a complicated four-step procedure. Apply a little layer of moisturizer after washing your face with your regular cleanser.

The sooner you can do this following your workout, the better.

Make wise product selections.
Dr. Adarsh Vijay Mudgil, the founder of Mudgil Dermatology in New York City, recommends selecting skincare products with caution.

“Avoid alcohol-containing products because they can cause an unexpected increase in oil secretion,” he says. “Also, avoid anything thick or oily like cocoa butter, shea butter, or Vaseline.”

His favorite foamy face cleansers are CeraVe and Neutrogena.

Items that are recommended

CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser from CeraVe is a foaming facial cleanser.

When you’re outside, use sunscreen.
Use sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 when going outside.

Mudgil advises using sunscreen that contains titanium dioxide or zinc oxide. Acne can be avoided by using these ingredients.

To make things easier, apply a daily moisturizer with sunscreen to make sure you’re constantly protected.

Finally, but certainly not least

Sticking to a daily skincare routine is the best way to reduce breakouts and minimize shine if you have oily skin.

Morning and night, a regular skincare routine should involve washing, toning, treating your skin, and moisturizing.

By using the right products, wearing sunscreen, using blotting papers, and washing your face after exercise, oily skin can be decreased and kept clear and healthy.
