Because scars are formed when an injury is deep enough to cause damage in your dermis, the layer of skin beneath your epidermis that has collagen, elastin and blood vessels in it. It is possible for scars to form after big accidents, like when you get into a car accident. They can also form after smaller accidents like acne, falling down, and picking your skin. Mary Stevenson, MD, and I will briefly review the different types of scars and the best ways to treat them in the following article. Improve The Appearance Of Scars.

Scars come in different types.
Scars aren’t all the same. People can talk about scars in five general ways: There could be more than one of these things about a scar.

It means scars that are well-healed and look like they should. They are the same color as the rest of the skin, and they aren’t raised or deep.
Atrophic scars are scars that are bigger than they should be and look stretched out and wide.
Hypertrophic scars are scars that look thicker than they should.
Hyperpigmented scars are scars that are darker than the rest of the skin.
Erythematous scars are more red than the rest of the skin.
The way a scar looks will depend on three things.
What made the scar. In general, a surgical cut that is stitched together will heal better than a cut that is left to heal on its own.

It’s true that some parts of the body, like the hands and the face, naturally heal very quickly. This is a general rule, though.
How the scar is cared for. People who don’t take care of their wounds will, in general, not get better as quickly as people who don’t take care of them.

When the scar starts to heal, stretching the underlying muscle (e.g., working out the muscle under the scar)

can cause stretched scars or a thicker scar, which can make the scar look worse.
It is your DNA. We all scar in a different way. When the conditions for #1 and #2 are right, some people “heal well” and don’t have scars at all.

There are two types of scars: keloids, which are very thick scars, and thin, stretched scars.

Mary Stevenson, MD, is a dermatologic surgeon who is certified by the American Board of Dermatology. She specializes in Mohs surgery, which is a treatment for skin cancer, as well as laser and cosmetic surgery. On high-risk squamous cell carcinoma, she does research on how skin cancers behave and how we can make better treatments for them. For her work in dermatology, she was given the New York Academy of Medicine’s Academic Research Award and the Stewart J. Rahr Young Investigator in the department of dermatology at the Ronald O. Perelman School of Medicine.

Protect the scar from the sun with sun protection sun protection

He says “SPF, SPF, SPF!” There is a risk that healing tissue will become hyperpigmented, and a scar will change for at least a year. People who have healing scars should cover them with sun protection or clothing when they go outside in the sun to avoid hyperpigmentation.

Keep a band-aid on the wound.

As the wound heals, most people think it’s good to let it get some sunlight. This isn’t right. Stevenson and I usually tell people to keep ointment on their wounds for the first few weeks. This will speed up the healing process. The wound can be left open during the shower to let soap and water wash over it.

Use a silicone gel to help your ointment heal normally.

Silicone is one of the best things you can put on your skin to help scars heal. Silicone helps to make scars that are healthy. Avene scar gel makes an easy-to-use scar gel that can be bought over the counter. Apply two times a day when the top layer of skin has healed, then apply every other day.

The gentle massage is a very gentle massage.

Gentle massage stops scars from pulling on the tissue around them. It’s best to massage the wound gently for about two minutes, two or three times a day, to help it heal.

Scars heal better when there is little stretching of the area, which can happen when you exercise.

In general, I don’t think it’s a good idea to move the muscle beneath for three weeks after surgery.

There are, however, some types of exercise that should not be done at all. After having a shoulder removed, you can walk and do other things with your lower body.

But, running would not be.

Topical Retinoids for Thin Scars and Stretch Marks that we talked about.

Lack of collagen and elastin make scars look swollen. Retinoids can help you make more collagen. Prescription retinoids are one of the best ways to make scars less noticeable. The results are small and take time, but they’re worth it.

Intralesional Kenalog for thick scars called keloid

With a simple, in-office injection, thick scars can be made to look less noticeable. It may take a few treatments to see a change in thickness, but any itching and/or pain that comes with it should get better with each treatment.

Microneedling is a tool that can be used to treat small scars with lasers and a needle.

Once a scar has fully formed, procedures that go to the level of the dermis are the best way to treat it. Stevenson says that there are many ways to make scars look better, including thulium 1927, pico second lasers, CO2 lasers, and microneedling with and without radiofrequency. She says that sometimes, a mix of approaches works best for people.

The Pulsed Dye Laser for Red Scars is 9 out of 13. This laser is for scars.
Pulsed dye lasers are used to find blood vessels. Because they can help with rosacea, they are often used to help with the redness. They can also help lessen the redness of scars. They can also help to make scars look better.

One in 10 of the 13 lasers for pigmented scars works.

Getting rid of dark spots in a scar can take a long time. Laser treatments like laser genesis, clear and brilliant, and pico second lasers can help.

The scar could be replaced by 11 of the 13.
It can be easier to remove the skin from stretched scars than it is to make new scars that are more controlled.

things you should think about when you have acne scars are fillers to help.

There is a lot of acne scarring
In addition to retinoids and procedures, filler can be used to fill in acne scars.

As time goes on, the scar will heal and repair itself.

The benefits of massage and sun protection will last if you take good care of yourself. Even so, if you need treatment above, you can start it now rather than wait until it’s too late. It’s a good idea to see a dermatologist who is certified by the American Board of Dermatology to figure out what’s the best thing for you.

Scars can be caused by surgery or by inflammatory conditions like acne and picking. When you have an early scar, the best way to treat it is with good wound care and sun safety. Formed scars can be replaced by surgery or changed with different procedures.
